Ride the Monster Mile Express to Dover Downs International Speedway

After two successful runs in 2001, Amtrak is again inviting NASCAR fans to “Take Amtrak To The Tracks” aboard the Monster Mile Express.  A special one-day train for race fans, the Monster Mile Express will travel from five cities in the Northeast to Dover Downs International Speedway in Dover, DE.

Race fans will never have to deal with annoyances like traffic jams, toll booths, directions, or other drivers.  Instead, they’ll be able to kick back, relax, and save their energy for what really matters: The Track!

The Monster Mile Express is an all-reserved coach train with a food service car.  The train will operate between New York Penn Station and Dover, DE with pick-up only stops at NWK, TRE, PHL, and WIL.  Guests originating in WAS, NCR, BWI, and BAL can use train #162 for a guaranteed connection to the Monster Mile Express at Wilmington, DE.

Upon arrival in Dover, guests will transfer to dedicated motorcoaches for the ride to Dover Downs International Speedway.  The motorcoach transfer is included in the rail fare.  Guests must purchase tickets to the race separately.

The Monster Mile Express will depart from a temporary platform in Dover approximately 2 hours after the end of the race.  Busses will depart the raceway approximately 1 hour after the race ends, with an additional hour allotted to complete bus transfers to the train.

Guests returning to WAS, NCR, BWI, and BAL can use train #135 for a guaranteed connection from the Monster Mile Express at Wilmington, DE.
