RUSTY INDUCTED INTO CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY WALK OF FAME:

Rusty was bestowed a special honor during the recent NAPA 500 race weekend at California Speedway as he was inducted into the facility's "Walk of Fame" on Thursday, April 27.

As the 2001 NAPA 500 champion, he joined an illustrious group of former winners who are immortalized forever inside Gate 12 at the main entrance to the grandstand area.

The festivities drew several thousand fans and saw Rusty place a unique plaque in cement, along with his autograph and racing shoe footprints.

"Now that was a really neat deal.first class all the way around," Rusty offered. "There were several thousand fans gathered and we all had a big time doing the induction and spending time with the fans. The honor means a great deal to me now and I'm sure that the significance will continue to grow as the years go by. It's an honor that I'll always cherish."

Rusty started 10th and finished a strong eighth in this year's NAPA 500 and continues to be strong in his effort to claim another NASCAR Winston Cup points title.
