STEVE WALLACE PACES FINAL PRACTICE IN MEMPHIS
--Young Driver Looking to Seize Opportunity in Final 2009 Stand-Alone Event--

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MILLINGTON, TN (October 24, 2009)--Saturday's Kroger On Track for the Cure 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park is the final "opportunity race" of 2009 for the NASCAR Nationwide Series.  If Friday's practice sessions are any indication, Rusty Wallace Racing's Steve Wallace (No. 66 5-Hour Energy Chevrolet) seems poised to take advantage of that opportunity.

Wallace posted the fastest lap of Friday's final practice session in Memphis, with an effort of 22.911 seconds (117.847 MPH).  His best lap came on his 37th--and final--lap of the session.  That effort followed Wallace's fourth-place ranking in the day's first practice session.

Wallace's teammate, Brendan Gaughan (No. 62 Chevrolet) also posted top-15 speeds in both of the day's two practice sessions.  Gaughan was 11th-fastest in Friday's final practice, posting a best lap of 23.103 seconds (116.868 MPH) on the 19th of his 63 laps completed in the session.

Gaughan and Wallace are slated to be the eighth and tenth drivers, respectively, to make attempts in Saturday morning's qualifying session, scheduled for a 9:45 AM CT start.

Noted Steve Wallace, "We had a really strong 5-Hour Energy Chevrolet all day today; I'm pretty happy with our car right now.  With that said, you never know what's going to happen at Memphis.  Pit strategy is probably going to come into play towards the end of the race again.  I just want to get a good qualifying spot tomorrow and stay out of all of the cautions that we typically see at Memphis.  If we can do that, then hopefully we'll be in position for a top-five or top-ten run at the end of day."
